Clinical Pathology The Clinical Pathology Laboratory tests blood and other body fluids to assist in the diagnosis of animal disease. Certified medical technologists and veterinary bioanalytical pathologists look for abnormal cells to identify and evaluate a variety of disease problems. Blood chemistry tests help to identify organ dysfunction and damage. Urine samples are analyzed to reveal urinary tract infection or kidney disease. Abdominal, chest, spinal, and joint fluids also may be tested to assist in identifying disease. Tissues that have been surgically removed from animal patients are analyzed by pathologists to detect possible malignancies and other disease processes. The Clinical Pathology Laboratory provides services to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and to private practices and clinics in Colorado and the surrounding states.
