Large Animal Reception

The large animal reception staff work closely with Equine, as well as Food and Fiber Animal clinicians, responding to the needs of ranchers, breeders, and owners of 1 or 2 ‘backyard pets’. The Equine and the Agricultural Animal Complex handle over 3,000 animal visits per year.

The Agricultural Animal Complex administers medical care to food and fiber animals which include cattle (both beef and dairy), sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas and llamas.

The Equine Hospital treats a variety of horses ranging from racehorses and breeding stock to working ranch animals and the backyard pony.

Six ambulatory trucks travel to farms and ranches with each truck being staffed by a clinician and several senior and junior students. The ability to make farm calls allows students additional hands-on experience in a real life setting. The ambulatory trucks make over 1,000 farm calls per year.
