For over a decade, CSU has taken the lead
in the scientific scrutiny and careful evaluation of natural healing methods for animals. CSU also developed the
first endowed position in this field for small animals, held by Narda
G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA. This new development paved the way for
a wide-ranging expansion in terms of service, educational, outreach,
and research opportunities in natural healing modalities.
Dr. Robinson, both a veterinarian and an osteopathic physician, now serves
as Director of the Center for Comparative and Integrative Pain Medicine
at CSU. Dr. Robinson began her medical acupuncture education at the UCLA
School of Medicine course, “Medical Acupuncture for Physicians”
in 1989. Board-certified in human medical acupuncture by the American
Board of Medical Acupuncture (ABMA) and a Fellow of the American Academy
of Medical Acupuncture, Dr. Robinson now heads the examination committee
for the board certification examination for physicians. She founded the
Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians post-graduate educational program
at CSU in 1998 and has directed the course annually since.
Dr. Robinson’s research interests span several dimensions of natural healing, including neuroanatomic acupuncture, critical evaluation of Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic strategies, herb research, and laser therapy.
